HISTORY
ESTABLISHED IN 1996
InsureBuild is a family-owned, independent business that was founded in Victoria in October 1996. With over 25 years of experience, we have become a vital presence in the insurance industry.
As the pioneer and longest-standing national building solution for insurers, Pattersons has successfully established, consolidated, and entrenched operations in every state. Our unique model combines local operations with national support, setting a benchmark for the industry.
Starting with a single branch in Victoria, our company has grown organically to become one of the most reputable insurance builders serving both Australia and New Zealand.
The vision to expand InsureBuild nationwide originated in 1999, leading to the development of our model. We opened a trial branch in Bendigo in 2000, followed by the Sydney branch in October of the same year.
In subsequent years, Pattersons expanded its presence in other regions, including Queensland in March 2004, Western Australia in October 2006, South Australia in June 2008, New Zealand in April 2010, and the Australian Capital Territory in April 2016.

1991SJ Patterson Building Services was founded by Stuart, a qualified carpenter, laying the foundation for a future industry leader. The business is built on his strong values—outstanding customer service, expert craftsmanship, and a steadfast commitment to quality, business, and industry excellence.

InsureBuild Pty Ltd (originally Pattersons InsurerBuild) founded in Melbourne, VIC.
Obtained Victorian domestic builder’s licence.
Entered the commercial sector in 1997.
Pioneered the direct-to-insurer, on-site photo and repair model, using a borrowed Polaroid camera—reducing costs and repair times by over 60% and setting new customer satisfaction benchmarks (Net Promoter Scores).
Established service standards never before seen in the industry, including client contact within an hour, quote submissions within 72 hours, and customer completion surveys. -
1998
Built and launched Pattersons Intranet—the first industry platform allowing clients to log in, monitor claims, and track building repairs in real time.
Pioneered online claims management, giving insurers direct access to monitor repair progress—an Australian first.
Developed the first internal scorecards and performance monitoring systems, which later became industry standards. -
2000
Opened regional branch in Bendigo, VIC.
